Shadowrun PBEM game From: apearlma@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu (Andrew Pearlman) Date: Sun, 15 Sep 1991 21:32:48 +0000 I'm starting a PBEM Shadowrun game. The rules I'm using: Shadowrun Main rule book, Grimoire. Ignoring Street Samurai Guide. All automatic successes become automatic sixes. This includes armor. Magic: There are a new set of rules for magic. You get a certain amount of points based on your Magic Priority level, and use this to buy magical abilities. Standard Mages and Adepts are same magic priority as they were. Here's the cost system: Points based on Magic Priority: Magic Priority Points 4 10 3 6 2 3 1 1 Voluntarily lowering the amount of money one gets from Tech is worth an extra Magic Priority-1 points. So Magic Priority 4 gets 13 points. Also, if one is a metahuman, one gets effectively +1 Magic Priority. So a Troll with Magic Priority 3 has 10 points, 13 points with lowered Tech. Note: Lowered Tech, refers to mages only getting 150,000 NY at Tech 3, and 300,000 at Tech 4. Most mages do it that way, but not all. How to buy stuff with points: 2 6 Magic Rating 1 3 Magic Rating(max of 3 Magic Pool) 2 6 Magic Pool 1 3 Magic Pool 1 1 Magic Rating and Pool 3 1st of Sorcery, Conjuring, Enchantment 2 2nd of Sorcery, Conjuring, Enchantment 1 3rd of Sorcery, Conjuring, Enchantment 1 Character is Initiable 2 Astral Projection Physical Adept Status costs Magic Rating-1 + (Cost of Magic Pool + Cost of Magic Rating - 2(minimum is 0)). So a full mage is 6 Magic Rating and Pool, Sorcery, Conjuring, and Enchantment, Initiable, and Astral Projection. Lowered Tech as well. A fractured adept is one with a 2 Magic Priority. He has a 1 Magic Rating and Pool, and usually Sorcery or Conjuring. Another example of a 2 Magic Priority is the Null Mage. He has a 6 Magic Rating and a 6 Magic Pool. The Magic Priority 1, is pretty rare. Someone who has a 1 magic rating and a 1 magic pool. Such a person, by buying sorcery skill, can get an extra die to help resist sorcerous attacks. Detectives are usually the ones who have this, as any cyberware will kill it. Note: If you start out with a 3 or 1 Magic Rating, any cyberware will reduce it. So getting a datajack with a 1 Magic Rating is a way to lose all your magic, chummer. The plot starts in Seattle in the year 2050. The most important thing about the characters, should be the background. Why is your character a shadowrunner? How do people usually get ahold of you? What makes your Street Samurai different from all other Street Samurai? What kind of jobs do you usually accept? Who do you usually talk to? Acceptance will be based on interesting background/personality, lack of rules rapes, and possibly first come/first serve. Andy Pearlman Up
