Sparf results --- Game week #3 From: mel@soda.berkeley.edu (Mel Nicholson) Date: Wed, 30 Oct 1991 08:58:47 +0000 Welcome back to the Sparf Channel! This is Pamela Twich with the week 3 color commentary. We'll zoom in on the closeups to give you all of the electrifying shockers and the lowdown from the lockers. Week 3 introduced the Hard Luck CSUA to a new sort of problem: injuries. The three early injuries were all the Cattle needed to stampede over the CSUA. This win moves the undefeated St. Louis Cattle into sole possession of the lead in the Heart Division as they get a little help from the Viking Raiders in the Diamond division who triupmhed over the Manix Maulers in one of the bloodiest games of the week. Of course it's hard to mention blood without mentioning the Koolywirtian Yarloops, who seem to be the reason for the red color of their league. The Yarloops managed to make it through the first half of the game with only a single injury, and were a man up on the Tigers for the entire second period. The second half started peacefully, but near the end of the third period the curse returned to Koolywirtie, and the Yarloops were carried off the field one after the other. In the last few minutes gave Pacifica the one man advangtage, but it was too late for them to recover the enourmous gap which the Yarloops had built up early on. The largest margin of victory in the league was enjoyed by The Mythstics, who dominated the field all day. The focus of the day however was in the trees as Wallamaloo travelled to their rematch with the Redwoods. In the only injury-free game of the week, the Philosophers had their revenge. The Black League had it's own fireworks as the Novas were surprised by some misinformation that went out with the week3 press. Player B-2 shot a record-breaking 9 goals this week and received support from B-3 and B-4 who, despite rumor to the contrary, were healthy and ready for the game. This win puts Cambridge in sole control of the Spade league, but the Novas are certain to be ready in the rematch. For this week however, Cambridge takes home the win, and Player B-2 has Player of the week honors. The Borg avenged itself on the Black Plague in this week of rematches, but the Chaos Demon Stalkers were not to be upset and repeat their victory over the Glimt, this time in front of their home fans. The Political Bastards edged the Pinyin Mandarins, but the news probably resounds hollowly in Washington as the news was shortly preceeded by the resignation of their Manager, Andy House. Dave Passage (dpassage@soda. berkeley.edu) Is due to take over the team, complete with all the chaos such a name change entails. Finally, the match to decide Dominance of the club league is over, and the California Sluggers have emerged on top. Until next week, this is Pamela Twitch for The Sparf Channel.
