Duelmaster PRs From: hlavaty@crvax.sri.com ("James Hlavaty") Date: Mon, 11 Nov 1991 18:27:00 +0000 Most of the PRs (parry-riposted) I've seen start out losers but get better. My latest one went 1-4 initially but since then is 5-1. The unusual thing about him is his strength (it's only a 7). He bounces weapons off Scalemail or better, and when he hits it doesn't do much. He usually winds up scumming the opponent. I look at him as a long term warrior - at some point in AD I'll get his strength up to an acceptable level and then he'll be pretty tough. My biggest observation is to make sure they have at least a 15 wit. Since they start out losers you want them to learn well so eventually they're fighting people with a lot less skills then they have. My PR is learning over 2 skills a fight, which I consider acceptable. What I really like about them is the way their fights read. There's something uniquely gratifying about a Riposte that works (i.e. hits that Striker in minute one). I'm also told that at the high level of AD PRs are very dominant. No first hand experience, though. Maybe someday :=). I have little experience with the PS style. No comment. Send me you snail mail address and I'll send you the weapon sheets. I use it, too, although I disagree with some of it (like the Warhammer, which I feel is a great weapon vs. ANY armor - fast but good punch). jim Referenced By Up
