play by e-mail game From: siegrist@elde.epfl.ch Date: Fri, 15 Nov 1991 12:02:52 +0000 There are currently about a dozen players in the play-by-email game "rich man-poor man" (RMPM). Since the optimum number of players is about 20, we are still looking for candidates. It is a game played on a square board of 25 x 25 fields with some ideas gleaned from "monopoly" (mainly the fact that it involves also money). However, your luck does not depend on a dice; you move rather in a "chess"-like manner and therefore you can develop strategies. Each player has 2 chips which move in an interconnected way according to certain rules. You try to make "encounters" with other players. During such an encounter money changes hands, so you can become a "rich man" (or of course a "poor man" if you are a lousy player). You can also buy fields and set up a business on your fields; and finally you can even influence the rules of the game, if you manage to convince the majority of your fellow-players that you had an ingenious brain-wave. So part of the fun is playing the game, but the other part is discussing the game. Interested? Send an e-mail to siegrist@elde.epfl.ch for more information Up
