New Play-By-Mail game From: lc1v+@andrew.cmu.edu (Lara Denise Catledge) Date: Mon, 13 Jan 1992 01:32:15 +0000 Would you like to help play test a major new PBM game for free before anyone else gets a chance to play? If so, keep reading... Along with a couple of friends of mine, I am in the process of designing a new play by mail game. About the only thing that is engraved in stone at this point is that the game will be fantasy based. What I would like is some information from play by mail gamers out there in netland. We hope to make this game a lot of fun and inexpensive to play, but we need your help. This will be the largest computer moderated PBM game ever created by the time we are done (I am sure of that), and we want to get it right. For this reason, I am requesting help and information for regular PBM gamers. What I want to know is: What PBM games are you a part of? What other games do you enjoy playing (role playing, wargaming, whatever)? For each PBM game you list; What do you like about the company that runs the game? What do you dislike about the company that runs the game? What are the most outstanding positive features of the game you play in? What are the things you hate the most about the games you play in? What other considerations are important to you in PBM games? Additional comments are welcome. I would appreciate answers as specific and detailed as you can get. I have at least a basic familiarity with most if not all of the major PBM games that are currently being run, so don't worry too much about that. As for a reward, those people who can offer conscientious, informative replies to the above questions and would like to take a role in helping us design the ultimate computer moderated play by mail game may receive design credit once the game is published, depending upon how much effort you give. EVERYONE who offers conscientious answers to the questions I have posed will be offered an opportunity to play for free in an early play test game. Anything more will depend upon your willingness and ability to help us in game design, and can include free turns or credit in the rule book for game design. This game will probably make its debut sometime toward the end of the upcoming summer, so keep your eyes peeled. Everyone who responds to this post will be kept updated on the progress, and as I said will have the opportunity to help us play test the ultimate play by mail game. Replies should be sent to: lc1v@andrew.cmu.edu Thanks, scott Referenced By Up
