Duelmasters: Team Spotlights From: 900667c@ace.acadiau.ca (Gerald Cameron) Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1992 01:47:51 +0000 I thought it might be a nice change of pace to get off of the technical stuff in DM for a second (yes, Virginia, there's more to DM than number crunching :), and talk about team spotlights. I happen to greatly enjoy writing spotlights in the arenas I run, especially since Susan (the editor) has started giving me compliments on them. Most of my spotlights seem to deal with introducing new characters or saying goodbye to old ones, I guess since my characters die on me so much :) Anyways, just out of curiosity, I was wondering what you out there in net.land enjoyed seeing in team spotlights, and who you think are the better spotlight writers out there. In order to avoid hypocrisy of some sort, here's what I like: Humourous stuff is tops on my list of stuff. I don't really write funny stuff, but like to read it a lot. Some of the better funny writers I've seen are Shadowmaster and Jack, and Orion (a sort of mid-level manager) isn' t too shabby, either. The high fantasy doesn't really appeal to me much, simply because I don't like that kind of writing, period (I haven't even finished Lord of the Rings). While I appreciate the fact that some good stuff of that sort is written, and I usually do read it, it raraely jumps out at me and makes me say "Wow!" Well, that's my $.02 worth.
