Duelmasters: Offensive TPS? From: ccm043@underdog.ucdavis.edu (Donald Trump) Date: Fri, 24 Apr 1992 15:37:31 +0000 >Ok, I don't know how to run or design an offensive TP. Do you? Maybe. I had one SZ 14 TP who got a TV in the Champions class (lost in round 10 to the guy who eventually won the TC), graduated to AD at 28-5, and then made it to Primus at 30-6. Just so no one is impressed, her set-up when she graduated was 9-15(+2)-14-17(+2)-17(+2)-9(+1)-12(+2). She had Master Parry, AdEx Riposte, Defense, Attack, and Expert Decis. She was nearly maxed out. She went 0-5 in Primus, lost her first fight when she was in Free Blades, and is now retired. >A friend of mine described an experiment which he tried: He ran his TP with >a Longspear (Well Suited!), and tried to trash his opponent, almost >succeeding. Anyone know anything else? The LS has long been noted as a possible weapon to use with TPs, although generally it's a bad choice, because while it enhances your Init and Decis (the two notable weaknesses of the TP style), it nearly completely de- stroys your Parry ability, and doesn't do a lot of good for your Attack, Defense, or Riposte, either. If I wanted to run an offensive TP, I would give them a LO with an off- hand HA or DA. The longsword is _the_ offensive weapon of choice among nearly every style, and while it may not help your parry, it certainly doesn't hurt it. It helps your attack, decis, and init, and may help your riposte. If not, the off-hand HA or DA will certainly do that, while helping out your parry as well. Basically, the best way I've found to run a TP offensively is to run him like a PR, but without the lunge tactic in the 3-4 minute area. As your opponent gets more and more tired, your TP will become more and more active, until generally a flurry of attacks at the end of the bout finishes him off. If you raise the KD, you may also get a kill or two, although none of my TPs has liked this strategy. Finally, the easiest way to make a TP offensive is to give him, firstly, a high WT and, secondly, a high WL. E. Hemingway, Phido's SZ 5 WT 21 WL 21 god, has been referred to as a Lunger in TP's clothing. I think that goes for most TPs. Trump Referenced By Up
