Spartan-fleet.com : A new kind of Trek experience From: "captainspartan" <captainspartan@yahoo.com> Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 09:58:43 +0000 Spartan-fleet is a PBEM fleet currently with two ships and a station adventuring on the Front as the Federation is at war, once again. But this war is so different than previous struggles for the enemy is both within, and without, the Federation. The campaign is known as the Anazi War and there is a great deal of intrigue, twisting plots and character development mixed in with raging space-battles and covert ops. The year, for most of the ships, is 2385. ******* Spartan is the flagship of the Cerberus battle-group at the Badlands Front. It is an Ares class and carries a complement of marines and fighters, is commanded by a cagey Maverick that served in Starfleet in the "Kirk Era" and who's XO is Klingon and the Chief Intel Officer. Its Helm Officer is an El-Auran with a sense of space-time, a penchant for flying the cruiser like its a fighter, a fondness for gooey sweet things and wearing bunny slippers while on duty. The CMO is a cranky Gael, raised on a freighter, with a tongue that makes the paint peel in sickbay and an overenthusiasm for making good on her promises and threats. The Ops Officer is an Orion Noble who's 'full of tricks' and left a life of luxury and a loving family to come out here and get shot at. 'Makes one think what his definition of 'loving family' really means? The Core Maintenance Officer is a civilian contractor, a Vulcan and the biggest geek this side of Bynus. Show him the newest cutting edge computer technology and he goes into Ponn-Faar. The Chief Sec/Tac is a Betazoid who is anything but a pacifist with a penchant for "phaser diplomacy" and women in tight clothing and exotic looks. The acting Chief Sec/Tac is a Gorn, a little on the short side with a weird sense of humor and a penchant for anchovies on, and in, everything he eats. Rub his belly and he passes out just like a gator. The Chief Engineer is a master of rigging things together but is sadly lacking in the ability to put his romantic life into shape. And as someone in the TNG era he has some very TOS ideals. The Chief Science Officer is a brilliant young human woman who has the personality of a mouse and ultimately thinks there was some mistake in her getting posted here. The Counselor wants to get as far away from the Captain as possible because in the last mission, all for perfectly good reasons, he poisoned her, killed her, beat her nearly to death and did we mention, almost drove her mad? Looking for a *really* different experience with "real people" in a fantastic setting? It is the anchor for the Cerberus Fleet of which Spartan is the flagship. Tartarus sees attacks and combat every few days to every fews weeks and located in the Badlands itself, is afflicted with all kinds of oddities and effects. It is also the commerce hub for this part of the front with hundreds of ships passing through every week, materials and goods being run legally and illegally despite the crew's efforts. It is a Diplomatic and Political hotbed, where the members of the Alliance meet and discuss tactics and strategies and ultimately, how they think it best to manage their own forces. The Commanding Officer is Rear Admiral N'Har, an Efrosian with over thirty years of Starfleet service and a great many of them served in Intel. He is a cagey giant with a commanding presence and a manner that few wish to face, even his superiors. He brooks no argument, no dishonor and above all, he brooks no treachery. His idea of discipline is very Klingon, usually involving weapons and evisceration. The XO is Captain EJ Collins, previously the CO of the USS Nanaja, lost for three years in a temporal event caused by a battle with an Anazi cruiser. She has returned out of time, one of the few Medical Officers to take a command and found herself in the middle of a Diplomatic drama of epic proportions. Her idea of diplomacy usually involves a nosebleed and some bruised knuckles. She fits in well with her CO. The Chief Intel Officer is a Diplomat who often has found herself with the wet side of the stick and used it to leverage the Federation in a variety of situations. Her connections, her manner and her successes has brought her out here to handle a growing issue between the Federation and Alliance representatives. She hates having to get her hands dirty and usually only does so when she absolutely has to. And when she's sure who, specifically, need to be on the receiving end of her own person vision of Hell. The Chief Diplomatic Officer is a contemporary of Spock, a friend of his father and an ex Medical Officer who just also happens to be married to the XO of the station. He is graceful, he is elegant and people whisper things about him that give them nightmares. He is a Deltan who has died and come back from the dead, who is younger than he should be and who negotiated a treaty with the Borg. And he has trained most of the telepaths in Intel how to use what they have to do the jobs they need to do. The Chief Operations/Engineer, Tok, is an ex-Borg who had been a new design for a Drone, specifically created as an infiltration unit. His eventual break from the Collective at Wolf 359 had been traumatic and he had never quite recovered. However, upon meeting the Consensus, he begged to be freed from the Borg nightmare he had endured for so long. Now, a few months later, he has returned (literally) a new man. His penchant for dramatic situations and the repeated (unsuccessful) application of a Vulcan nerve-pinch has earned him the nickname "visegrip". Come check out Starbase Tartarus! www.spartan-fleet.com Open Slots: Chief Science, Sec/Tac, all assistant position, civilian positions, shop keepers, teachers, criminals and diplomatic officers of various species in the Alliance. Bring me something- I'm flexible. ******** Falcon Dreams is a freighter specializing in luxury transport and the freight of luxury items, run by Deltans and owned by an Orion House. At least, that's what the Federation Registration Charter says. In reality, the ship is a free privateer working for the greater good, attempting to undermine the Anazi Alliance of which some of the Orion Syndicate supports. But they must tread carefully for if the Orion Houses find out, they won't leave a single system unsearched trying to find them and slavery will seem like a picnic in the country. If the Federation finds out, they'll come after their erstwhile allies as privateers with phasers blazing. And if the Anazi find out- well, the crew will just get eaten. Did we mention the fabulous benefits-plan? Falcon Dreams is a non-Starfleet ship in the middle of a war fought between huge powers. Its the story of "the little guy" trying to do his part without those pesky Prime Directives and laws and such, just a sense of right and wrong and a willingness to do a little wrong for the greater right. 'Looking to play a character in Trek that wouldn't fit in on a Starfleet ship? Apply now! The Captain is a sixteen year-old Orion/Deltan hybrid who keeps himself wound up tighter than an elderly marathon runner's pacemaker. He's a frightening person with the experiences of many people floating around in his head and belongs to an assassin's guild. The XO is a Deltan who is also trained in Spec Ops and works as the Tactical/Security Chief. He's not at all pacifistic, not at all dubious of where they're going and not at all concerned of his survival. The Physician is also a Deltan named Helos, who is also part El-Auran. He is older than anyone (several anyone's added together in fact) on the ship and has a biting wit as sharp as his plaser-scalpel. He is acaring individual who brooks no nonsense in his Healing Center and if necessary will knock you unconscious if your bother him with your screams. The Flight Chief is a Klingon beauty with a shape more-suited to Orion dancing girls, straight (if sharp) teeth and the cultured manner of a well-paid courtesan. She dresses beautifully, she acts well mannered and she can spin the freighter on it's impulse drives and make it dance the Macarena. Minder, the Operations Chief, is the ship's AI who also has his own Avatar. A Deltan AI and a gift from someone with a lot of resources, the AI manages the ship's systems and in general gossips and snoops about for anything interesting. He is not above blackmailing you out of your holosuite time just so he doesn't have to play your boring little "meat-games". Koda is the Chief Engineer on the ship and is rarely seem away from her "babies", the engines. An ex-Orion slave and pleasure-giver, she is from a "fallen" House and was sold into slavery while she was still "tender". She's never had a formal education but she soaks up engineering and technical data like desert sand soaks up rain. Get on her bad side and your waste recycler will projectile vomit. The assistant Sec/Tac is a strange Orion, an ex-pleasure slave and a dancer turned freeman when his slave ship was captured by a Federation cruiser and turned over to Federation authorities at Tartarus. Discovered by the CO, they became fast friends and is now one of the key players in the civil war they hope to bring about. 'Not so good with technical issues but if you want someone sexed into unconsciousness, he's your guy. The "Boy" is the Imzadi of the aSec/Tac and an artist, turned Combat Telepath and Agent for what will become a fast-rising Duelist in the Orion Pits. He is a painter and sketcher, the son of the CE of the Spartan thought dead or enslaved and soon to become a half of a deadly team being used to engineer the end of a civilization. Classicaly "blonde" in most senses of the word, this Betazoid/Human hybrid is too cute for his own good and looks too innocent to be believed. www.spartan-fleet.com Open Slots: Anything really. We have no fighters but we have a lot of Spec Ops, dirty-tricksters and privateers of various professions. We also have stewards and service people who are also dirty-tricksters, who provide service to the passengers on legit runs. Make a suggestion, I'm flexible! ******* We have a Klingon ship under construction for the fleet with a very unique crew. Look for future ads for the "Shadow of Death". Spartan fleet is also rather unique in that we allow ships to apply, or people who want to run ships. Unlike other sims that create ships and missions and then look for COs to run them, we offer you the chance to start from scratch, build a ship, a crew and a mission. We work with you, support you and help you get the setup in place. Existing sims are welcome to apply as well though they must become a part of our timeline and continuum. Come take a look and see what we're all about. We go for quality over quantity, great stories and great interaction. We're all about trust, good faith and respect. Up
