Olympia Stacking 'Gotcha' From: rsocia@renaissance.cray.com (Rick Socia) Date: Mon, 08 Jun 1992 11:19:33 +0000 Lesson learned. If your stack stack with another stack, your stack basically unstacks from each other, and individually stacks with the target stack. For example, if a stack, let's call it Tom, has Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice stacked under him, and tom issues a stack order to say Greg, what happens is Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice unstack from Tom, and then all 5 of them stack with Greg. But here is the rub. Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice issue stack orders to stack with Tom, and then Tom issues a move command, what happens is you get a message that Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice are already in the same stack with Tom, and then Tom goes to Hell without Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice. Moral of the story; unstack Tom first and then issue stack orders to Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice. Then Tom can move, attack or what ever. Don't get caught with your pants down like me! The docs need to be CLEAR on this. -- Rick Socia Referenced By Up
