The open mouth, Insert Foot From: crip@eebbs.isis.org (Garth Werner) Date: Sat, 06 Jun 1992 12:31:41 +0000 While everyone has the Open Hand under discussion as a Duelmasters topic, I'd liek to throw a related topic to discussion. It is generallly admitted that Open Hands are a feable weapon choice, as they do minimal damage, and leave the attacked subject to being hurt by the parry. But what about a kick. The only warrior I've seen yuse a leg kick was an aim blow. (actually, I believe the text line was ".. A Flying Drop Kick..., which struck my warrior in the Head) (My warrior fought back and killed the poor 17-15 Aim blow in Minute 5). At the FtF I set up a grudge match between two fairly new ABs, both wearing armor, helm, but no weapons. Both warriors had a 13 CON, so I expected to see a longer fight., but after an attack each, which were dodged, AB #1, lunged forward with his foot, hit, and the fight was over. Now my initial impression was cheap fight, but someone recently suggested to me that for a weaponless warrior, a successful attack with the foot, rather than doing the same damage as a fist attack, does the equivalent damage to a Greatsword. Now I personally find this to be a bit difficult to swallow, but I want to knwo if anyone thinks this is valid, or possbile alternatives. Are Aimblows the only Soccer players in the Game (Ie Have you seen another style attack with the foot?) If the basher is well suited to the fist it's one thing (I can sort of picture it), but for the basher to be well suited to his foot? It's hard to imagine slamming down with the heel of the foot to knock someone out (They may fall over laughing, but that's about it). Anyway, that's about it, I've never really used the uweaponless AB, but I am considering it with one of the 3 I'm running now (6-6-1, 6-2-1, and 9-1) Is the armour being worn the only factor in determining if a warrior is hurt by the parry? Sometimes a parry is made, but no damage is taken, but it seems pretty random to me? Any thoughts? Thanks Garth I think the address is crip@eebbs.isis.org if you don't want to post a reply.
