RE:Duelmasters - A New Rollup From: ccmdenis@george.ucdavis.edu (Donald Trump) Date: Sat, 06 Jun 1992 18:31:07 +0000 Grisel received the following roll-up: ST 12 + 0 = 12 CN 10 + 0 = 10 SZ 4 + 0 = 4 WT 10 + 5 = 15 WL 13 + 4 = 17 SP 8 + 1 = 9 DF 13 + 4 = 17 According to my tables, these raw numbers translate into: Attack 75% Initiative 40% Decisiveness 30% Parry 45% Defense 65% Riposte 75% The character's SZ should have a beneficial effect on Parry and Defense (and most likely Riposte), as well as a damaging effect on Init and Decis (and possibly Attack). This character's obvious strengths are Attack, Defense, and Riposte so Grisel should definitely take a style that most effectively uses these areas: Parry-Strike, Parry-Lunge, or Total Parry. Wall of Steel and Aimed Blow are also possible. Grisel knows more about pikers than I do (as do most managers), so I'll keep my discussion to what I know. If Grisel makes this character a plunger, she can expect something like (I have no info on luck or SZ factors, so I've left them out): NEX Attack = 0 NEX Init = 6 NEX Decis = 10 (no info on Plunger's Decis) NEX Parry = 5 NEX Defense = 6 NEX Riposte = 3 Excellent defenses, but only a chance at 1 Advanced Master within 120 skills. Making this character into a Wall of Steel would have this result: NEX Attack = 0 NEX Init = 2 NEX Decis = 9 NEX Parry = 5 NEX Defense = 6 NEX Riposte = 3 The offense is looking a lot better, with 2 Advanced Masters possibly within reach, and uncharacteristically good defenses. Not quite Dream Warrior, but still pretty good. A Total Parry would have the following base stats: NEX Attack = 5 NEX Init = 8 NEX Decis = 10 NEX Parry = 3 NEX Defense = 5 NEX Riposte = 3 The TP's adjustments literally wreck this character's off- ensive stats, and don't help out his defensive bases much either. Of course, this is the trade-off for all the extra endurance. I have almost no info on AB's, but I do know that the AB would get Expert Attack on the roll-up (almost certainly), and would be hurt in the parry and defense areas. Also, as a PR (I'm not a big fan of running PR's myself), he would probably get Expert Attack and Riposte on the roll-up, with very little adjustment to any other areas. Assuming that this character gets absolutely average luck, and that the small SZ will deduct 2 skills from his offensive areas and add 2 skills to his defensive areas, I'd say that (withoujt knowing how he'd turn out as a PS), you've got the choice of a defensive Wizard in the TP (2 Advanced Masters in Defense), or an incredibly well-rounded Wall of Steel (Advanced Master Attack and Riposte, with a possible Advanced Master Parry). Personally, I would go for the Wall of Steel with the numbers you suggested. Trump Referenced By Up
