Demonswords still has a few openings From: "Dan" <dmdevine12@yahoo.com> Date: Fri, 27 Jan 2006 06:57:43 +0000 Hello everyone, I'm running a fantasy campaign based on an interactive variant of the FUDGE system where the players have a limited bit of control over narration. The main angle of the game is that each player will wield a powerful sword that will enable them to achieve herioic deeds, but only if they can overcome the wills of the great demonic beings bound to their weapons. Here's the promo: Lightning flashes from a cloudy, starless midnight sky. For a moment it illuminates the scene before you, like a sudden flash of comprehension, but is gone before you can grasp the image in its entirety. In its absence, you find you do not need the light to see. Figures crouch on the grass, somehow vibrantly green even in the darkness. They are buried in deep cloaks which billow in the blowing winds. Each stands at the tip of a six pointed star etched upon the grass in a rudy reddish brown clay. They hold swords out before them, eyes closed with heads inclined so that their foreheads touch the flat of the blade. The wind begins to build and the figures start to chant softly, their voices rising and falling in complete unison, striking a strange cadance. You start in fear as a gruesome outline appears suddenly along one edge of the star, traced out of living fire. It screams in frustration or agony, but its cries cannot blot out the sound of the chanting which is growing steadily louder. It struggles as if trying to force its way through to the closest figure, but is stopped then thrown backwards by some unseen force. The moment it leaves the star's perimeter, the flame surrounding it bleeds away, and it becomes invsible once more. The wind is incredibly strong now and the lightning intensifies, falling frequently nearby into the empty grass. More outlines batter against the boundaries of the star. No two are alike, but all are hideous almost beyond description- reptilian, insectoid, or just completely alien in nature. They are wailing now as the flames flow along their bodies. The chant has become a shout, just to be heard above the sound of the terrible wind which buffets everything unforgivingly. Lightning falls into the star and inbetween the cloaked figures now, but never seems to strike them. There is a sense of increasing desperation as the creatures within the star beat against their confinement faster and faster, becoming wild and senseless in their fury. You can see that some of the clay is beginning to break off of the grass and blow away in the grating wind, the boundary lines of the star are become thinner and thinner. The figure at the top of the star reaches into the folds of his cloak and bright white spills out before him. He raises a simple chain upon which hangs a jewel that glows the purest white you've ever seen. In the light it casts the true forms of the entrapped creatures are revealed, and your soul recoils in terror. The man with the jewel, for his cowl whips back and you can see that it is indeed a man, brings the chant to a climax in his deep resounding voice as the others fall silent. In violent synchrony, the six stab their swords into the tips of the star as he reaches the final note. Lightning strikes again, six bolts falling as one, piercing the horrors within the star and grounding against the blades driven into the earth. Something moves only centimeter behind you, your surprise sends a jolt along your nerves... and find yourself awake lying upon sweat soaked sheets. Six people who have never met unknowningly share this dream. Theirs' is a epic destiny which shall soon reach to embrace them, whether they desire it or not. Referenced By Up
