Are you looking for an email based RPG that is set in our own world,
but with a twist?  Where not only Vampires and Werewolves exist just
beyond the average persons perception, but where Revenants (who can
suck the very life-force from someone making them age at an unnatural
rate, instead of consuming blood as Vampires do), Daevas (immortal
humans who are bound to fate in such a way that they become minor
deities of sorts), Angels (the nearly perfect and nearly
indestructible guardians of the Divine Plan), Gargoyles (the Sin
Eaters), Manitou (animal or plant sprits who serve Orenda (Nature)),
Questers (humans who through dedication to a grand cause have become
nearly immortal, such as the Grail Knights), Ghouls (the leaches of
the undying realms), Reanimated beings (Frankenstein�s Monster
creations or even Golems that are embedded with spirits), Djinn
(creatures of incredible power and even more incredible emotions, the
ultimate megalomaniacs), as well as the strangest of other-worldly
creatures the Fay from the old fairytales (the ones that didn�t
always end �happily ever after�), or Possessed (who�s psychotic
existence make split personality disorder look like a walk in the
park), or any one of many other beings that you thought were
mythical.  There is also a place for mortal characters, be it
Osirian�s (mages who are linked the cycle of reincarnation) or
mortals who can see beyond the veil of �reality� and into the lands
beyond what most humans can sense known as �Fantasts� (these can vary
from including those who can see and speak with ghosts to those who
walk the dream worlds of others, to those who are capable of stepping
into the netherworlds beyond time and space.

THIS IS NOT THE WORLD OF DARKNESS!!!

However those who are familiar with it, will likely recognize the name
of Steven Brown, author of some of the most controversial WW books,
and later the developer of the �Secret World� setting and �The
Everlasting� RPG to which I am referring to.

Shadows of Humanity offers much more depth, much more flexibility,
much more possibilities, and a much grander and more epic setting
than White Wolf�s �World of Darkness�.   It is also not handled
through a �mailing list� or �message board� type of system where
those who sit on their computer all day control the story.  Instead
all emails will be handled through the GM(s) (or at least CC�ed to
the GameMaster when two characters are having a discussion).  All
character and system mechanics will be handled behind the scenes, so
the players will see the story unfold before them (not the �trials�
or �tests� that typically go on in other forms of RPG�s).

We are now taking Protagonist Submissions (at the site follow the
�Character Dev.� link to learn more about what is involved with
becoming a part of this RPG world that exists in the shadows of our
own world).  Look around the web site to get a feel for what we have
to offer, and to get a basic idea of the scope of the setting and its
possibilities.  Please follow the directions carefully (as we do not
want everyone sending actual character abilities, only concepts and
descriptions at this point), and please be patient as it may take a
few days to get back to you on your idea.  Due to the intended scope
of this project, it will take a little time to get things started and
moving.
