Okympia: New Subskills From: Dave Horowitz <DSH109@psuvm.psu.edu> Date: Wed, 08 Jul 1992 13:08:43 +0000 Well, this is my first Olympia post... A friend and I were discussing the new implementation of the subskills. I felt that along with the new economy (which I really don't have any complaints about), it is very difficult to increase all of the subskills that have been implemented. For instance, I was at forestry 4 when the new subskills started. This shot me all the way back down to a subskill of 1 in harvest lumber, and breed oxen. Now, after spending all my money studying the previous skills, I am kinda poor. Since Rich doesn't want to base this game on others, my idea of gaining more skill levels through USE is kinda moot (and as I hear old =). My newer idea would to have a new command called PRACTICE. You would not have to pay to practice a skill, but would learn at a much slower rate (maybe half) than if you were to STUDY. Also, maybe using practice would only advance you far enough to ALMOST make it to the next skill level, at which point you would have to study to get there. So, what do others think about this idea? -Dave Referenced By Up
