Re: Olympia: declared attitudes From: M22367@mwvm.mitre.org Date: Tue, 14 Jul 1992 16:41:01 +0000 IMHO, the new attitudes *do* add to the playability without adding obnoxious levels of complexity. You get all that conditional action people were yakking about months ago. As for revealing faction numbers, is it oversimplifying to do: If stealth > observation, faction number not revealed If stealth < observation, faction number revealed If stealth = observation, 50/50 chance faction number revealed The '=' case would apply if both units had 0 in the skill. Instantaneous communication between units over long distances is a real problem with the game (IMHO). Remember the battle of New Orleans, months after the war had ended? "Gee, nobody told us to change our attitude settings!" I don't know how to address the problem, tho. Orders to distant units must be delivered by messenger? Carrier pigeons? Well, it certainly makes the teleportation spell powerful, if only a mage can *really* control his troops in a variety of places. This would certainly put ye olde kaibash (sp?) on the way the game is played. - Mike (formerly James Resolut 888) Referenced By Up
