Star Empires Game 1 results From: rhl@valhalla.mitre.org (Roger Lincoln) Date: Thu, 24 Sep 1992 17:43:58 +0000 THE WAR IS OVER!!! Star Empires Game 1 is ended! The end was inevitable. There are only 7 players left. Ajeeby is homeless with 5 ships; Nemesis and Retchian are down to 1 world each; Mallorean, Master of the Triple Deal, has held on to 3 worlds. Out of a starting field of 32 players, with 6 alternates, the official winners, in a show of indissolvable unity are {insert galactic fanfare} the Gang of Three; Warlock, Zyzzyvans, and The Saints. The Terrible Trio have battled valiantly throughout the entire game, and have recovered from seemingly fatal events. Each of them at one time has faced extinction, but have held on with the help of the other two. At the end their combined empires span 115 planets, 95% of the habitable universe, and they have amassed a combined starfleet of 395 ships, most of them heavily-gunned, lightly-shielded Frigates, an interesting strategy. Credit should also go out to Nemesis, aka Candace, who was the uncontested ruler for most of the game (a veritable giant among men) and proved that diplomacy can often get you further than combat, and who had the smarts to lose net-access as soon as things got hot ;-) Player 22, aka Louis, the unquestioned Galactic Library and central clearinghouse of intelligence, who survived the downfall of his empire and took over the helm of the Nemesis empire and fought valiantly to the last man/woman/thing. My special thanks to Rob, aka Basilisk, who set the theme very early with his masterful baiting and backstab of Baruch. This may have been a tame game were it not for him. There were so many young and eager faces who have fallen by the wayside; let us not forget Wumpster and Stush, early pioneers of the doomed large alliances. Tobold, who fights as we speak for his very life in a distant universe. Paper Clip, who could read the signs and go down in glory, rather than a slow and painful death. Vulvitis, the meaning of whose name I didn't learn until it was too late. Player 23, The Boastful. Godoraith, the first to see the Nemesis danger and try to unite an uncaring galaxy against her. And many others whom I can't remember offhand. A toast of Saurian Brandy to you all! Roger Lincoln Unemployed Space-God -- \_____ \__ \__ \__ | Roger H.
