Galaxy Hall of Fame From: rwallace@unix1.tcd.ie (russell wallace) Date: Sun, 27 Sep 1992 23:09:43 +0000 Posting this message on behalf of Rob McNeur (note: if you have any comments, don't reply to this message, instead mail to him): ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Galaxy Hall of Fame and Infamy ============================== Recording the meritous results of past Galaxy games played over the Internet and allocating points to the players concerned, based on their past efforts. (Galaxy was written and maintained by Russell Wallace as a PBeM) Health Warning -------------- Be warned, all the following persons have killed billions of sentient beings and should be treated with utmost caution !! Most are responsible for the genocide of complete species !! Rules ----- 1) The winning score of a game is the number of points equal to the number of players at the start of the game e.g. 40 players start the game, there are 40 points to be scored by the winner(s). 2) If a single person wins, they get the total score. 3) If an alliance of players wins, the number of points is divided evenly between the alliance members, based on the ratios of final industry scores. This helps add incentive to having either a single winner or having the highest industry. 4) Scores are cumulative for each player, and rankings are displayed in order of points won. 5) All Galaxy games played over the Internet and using Russell Wallace's code qualify, as long as they are publicly advertised. Private games, or significant variations from the original code, must be considered separately. (They will probably be included but we would really prefer to keep close to the original code) 6) The rankings will be posted to Rec.Games.PBM at regular intervals. 7) Winning races which change hands during a game for any reason are only recorded for the final player. Previous players receive no credit for their part in the development of the race. (It is recognised that this may not be totally fair on them, especially if they have dropped out for reasons outside their control, but there seems no fair way of managing this.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The GMs concerned (so far) are :- Russell Russell Wallace (RWallace@vax1.tcd.ie) Rob Rob McNeur (Rob@ccc.govt.nz) John John Pietrzak (pietrzak@grant.cecer.army.mil) Glenn Glenn Ellingson (gellings@us.oracle.com) Mark Mark Nardin (Nardinm@engin.umich.edu) Completed games --------------- Spiral - GM = Mark, start = 29 players, finished on Turn 58, alliance Rob G2 - GM = John, start = 21 players, finished on turn 42, alliance Rob G1 - GM = Rob, start = 44 players, finished on turn 62, alliance Game 1 - GM = Russell, start = 29 Players, finished on Turn ??, no alliance Game 2 - GM = Russell, start = 15 players, finished on turn 71, no alliance Points Total Game Name email Address Game(s) ------ ---- ---- ------------- ------ 29.0 29.0 Andrew Conway arc@mundoe.maths.mu.oz.au Game 1 20.3 8.5 Glenn Ellingson Gellings@us.oracle.com Spiral 5.2 Rob G2 6.6 Rob G1 15.0 15.0 Rob McNeur Rob@ccc.govt.nz Game 2 11.8 5.8 Bruce Saul Kitten@sneeze.resp-sci.arizona.edu Spiral 2.4 Rob G2 3.6 Rob G1 7.7 7.7 Martin emu@uni-paderborn.edu Spiral 7.4 4.5 Howard Bampton Bampton@cs.utk.edu Spiral 2.9 Rob G1 6.4 6.4 Michael Hall hall@rocky.bellcore.com Rob G1 5.7 5.7 Brad Miller miller@cs.rochester.edu Rob G1 4.5 4.5 Mika Valiviita valiviit@cc.helsinki.fi Rob G2 3.8 3.8 John Pietrzak pietrzak@grant.cecer.army.mil Rob G1 3.7 3.7 Tim Becker becker@cs.rochester.edu Rob G2 3.6 3.6 Michael Lewchuk lewchuk@cs.ualberta.ca Rob G1 2.9 2.9 Scott Bryant bryant@spc9.jpl.nasa.gov Rob G1 2.9 2.9 Tommy Lindquist d7tommy@dtek.chalmers.se Rob G1 2.8 2.8 Gerald Siek jerry@uni-paderborn.de Rob G2 2.5 2.5 Alex Ho aho@us.oracle.com Spiral 2.4 2.4 Tom Finn Finn@eugene.convex.com Rob G2 2.0 2.0 Jakob Ilves d8ilvja@dtek.chalmers.se Rob G1 1.6 1.6 Clint Bittel cbittel@sneeze.resp-sci.arizona.edu Rob G1 1.2 1.2 Phillip Hume bainard@Athena.MIT.EDU Rob G1 0.8 0.8 >Bauerns staats@Athena.MIT.EDU Rob G1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please forward any enhancements, name changes, other Galaxy game results etc to the following address.
