I have read your question and will try to advice you how to slay monsters-
question 2+3. I think this is the thing that I am most experienced in in
Legends.

Question 2-Soldiers against monsters:
A battle oriented Mercenary or Overlord with the race of Maratasen is one
of the best against monsters. 30-40 level 5-10 Maratasen soldiers with a
training of knight or ranger will dish out even a small balrog in one round.
But only if it is a game without Invulnerability. In ROI only the small monster
s can be killed by soldiers without a good status. The mountain troll and the
giant spider are small monsters of course. Other easy monsters are hydras,
basilisks, cockatrices, mantikors and young dragons. Also some minor undead are
an easy kill - morhghuls, shadows, gosts, spectres and vampires in the first
state. They have got a INV in the range 4-6. But be a little careful with the
undead, some of them are very high arcane masters. I once heared of a spectre
who had an arcane rating of 72 |
Soldiers with a special status make the bigger monsters also possible. The best
one I have seen had a damage of 7. The best way to get this cruel soldiers,
work together with an heroic arcane master. He is able to get the spells to
make your characters demonic or undead. Be careful, only dead characters can
be risen as undead, the spell will not work on a living. And the undead soldies
will lower the ULI of your town, but they are the best troops to conquer.

Question 3-Characters against monsters:
The best monster killer is a hero with the race of giant, troll or drakken
with an arcane rating of 1-you get 10 spells- a combat rating of 25 and
the rest of the points spent on strengh and dex. Take warlock armor, emphtaic
self cure and call familiar for your spells. Teach your sidekick ranger(+1
special attack resistance) and knight and learn this professions to your hero
in the first turns of the game. The sidekick also should have a combat rating
of 10. The attack factor of this character will be about 1000 once he has
learned knight and ranger. This is enough to kill one of the minor monsters
(see question 2) in one or two rounds. Work together with a friend, who is
able to give you a bless of 100% and/or change your status to demonic.
This character, armed with a Power 4 Weapon is able to kill a large balrog
or eaven a mature dragon in two turns(Emphatic self cure). Be careful with
the dragon, you have to withstand a special attack of 1000 befor you can
attack him. Try to get a dragonhide armor first or a Power 2 dwarfen plate
mail.
