Science Fiction RPG -> Players Wanted! From: jphillip@sage.cc.purdue.edu (The Shadow) Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1992 19:00:33 +0000 I am looking for players for a science fiction RPG of based (more or less) on the minatures game Warhammer 40,000. The system is basically my own design, borrowing heavily from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay with changes to reflect what I think are flaws in that system. Note: You needn't know *anything* about either of these systems as all rule-related stuff will be dealt with mainly on my end. Hopefully the bugs will get smoothed over quickly. I am looking for a turnaround time of every other day. Not including weekends, unless everyone playing has access on the weekends as well. Something to be discussed in the future. I am also looking to start by early the week after next. The following is some general (and very sketchy) background of the WH40K universe. If you would like to play, please email me soon at the address below. I will begin sending out questionares as to what you would like to play in a few days. ------------------------- Some background: Warhammer 40,000 (WH40K) paints a bleak picture of the future - about 40,000 years from now. There are a few major groups struggling for survival (not to mention control). The first of these is the Imperium. Made up primaraly of humans, the Imperium is the target of most anyone else who wants to kill people. The Emperor has been ruling for thousands of years, and exists solely on life support systems on Earth. The Imperium's primary protectors are the Adeptus Astartes (aka Space Marines). Other groups include the Imperial Guard (generally left to control a planet once taken over by Marines), and the Adeptus Terra who form the support personnell (enginneers, mechanics, etc.). The Imperium is also home to three major demi-human races. Ogryn, Imperial Beastmen, and Ratlings. Ogryn and Ratlings are identical in size, shape, and appearance to their fantasy counterparts ogres and halflings. Imperial Beastmen are humans who have been genetically altered to become more animal than human. The Squats (fantasy - dwarves) form an Empire unto themselves, but have very close ties to the Imperium. The Eldar (fantasy - elves) are a very eclectic group of beings, but are technologically superior to the Imperium. Eldar are generally better fighters as well. Then there are the Hordes of Chaos. There are four major Chaos Lords, each with his own followers, who are dedicated to the destruction of all sentient races as well as the other three Chaos Lords. -- Peace, Love, and Armagheddon. jphillip@sage.cc.purude.edu Up
