DM: Help with Running Dead Waste From: gharris@jade.tufts.edu (George W. Harris) Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1992 17:25:47 +0000 What an interesting subject line... Anyway, I've got a dead waste I'm interested in running through the Tourney of the Dead, but, since he's dead, obviously I'm not really clear on how to run him. So, let me outline the situation and I'll ask for help. 11-9-14-17-17-5-11-WS, Right-handed, Very intelligent, (seldom hesitates, moves instantly if given an opportunity) (uses an unusual fighting style, deadly to slower, less active foes) (has learned the finer points of parrying) (avoids blows well) Active, Clumsy, Cannot carry a lot of weight, Very Quick on his feet (often avoiding seemingly hopeless situations) does Good Damage. He was 1-1 when he died, and had learned 2 riposte & 2 attack skills. His first fight, I sent him out in APL-H with QS against a 1-0 basher in APA-F with a GS, and ran him 3-6-3-P in minute 1, 4-5-4-x in two, and he was beaten early in the second minute. His second fight, he went out in APL-H and a SC against big striker with no armor or hat weilding a SS, and won in the first minute going 3-6-3-P, dodging and parrying three of four attacks before getting in a hard counterblow which put his opponent down. In the fight where he got killed, I was running him the same way against the same basher as in the first fight, and he got hit twice (with a halberd, this time) and died. I killed that basher in a Bloodfeud with a Dixie Lunger the next turn, but I'd like to get this guy back. I figure I should give this guy heavier armor, ring or chain, since he's a defensive stylist, and maybe play him more defensive the first couple of minutes, maybe 2-5-2-P then 3-5-3-x, before going 6-5-6-x in minute three. Does this sound reasonable? Also, how should I change his strategy against different styles? I figure against bashers, lungers and strikers I should use heavier armor, and fight more defensively at first to get them tired out.
