Hmmm... is there really an issue here? What I mean is: I don't like playing chess, I prefer XConq, why don't you chess players just play XConq if it's more fun? Everyone likes this and that game more than others! Isn't that reasonable? I mean, why bother to post on rec.games.pbm if you hate PBM's and love MUDs? I admit the first game I installed on my site was TinyMUD. I loved it, and still do. However, all my other players deserted the game - now I'm playing by myself. No much fun here. But if I had fanatic players here, I'm sure I'd continue to play MUD. But this doesn't mean I'll quit playing PBMs too. Or XConq. They are different games, you see. If I want player-to-player interaction with text, I play MUDs. If I want strategy games on real-time, I play XConq. If I want strategy games *without* real-time, I play PBMs. If I want to ose on the 5th turn, I play chess. This is like the old question about: why bother to program in Fortran, if C is so wonderful? Well, why indeed? I hate Fortran and turn green when I see some of its lines - but, all in all, both are compiled to assembler, aren't they? And (on my site) Fortran even compiles better and faster than C... so, why do I stick with C? Because I *like* C! So simple. So, JB Lonon, if you *really* love MUDs and hate PBMs, get out of this newsgroup! What are you doing here?? Isn't rec.games.mud not enough for you? And forget about all those arguments as "I-like-MUDs-'coz-they're-real-time-and-free" or "but-PBEMs-are-free-too-and-they-are-more-fun", "no-MUDs-are-more-fun,-PBEMs-suck", "no-MUDs-suck-PBEMs-are-great!"! You can't force everyone to like what *you* like. Arguments are unnecessary here. This is just a question of personal taste, and not something you can argue about. If there are still more replies to JB Lonon's post, I'll start a discussion about how I hate Duelmasters. I've never played it, of course; but it's *really* tiresome to skim through news just to find one article of interest. No, it's just DM, DM, DM... Anybody cares to discuss this? :-) - Luis Sequeira P. S. Ok, I *won't* discuss Duelmasters. It surely looks like a fantastic game. What about creating a new newsgroup just for DM...? +-----------------------------------+------------------------------------+ | Beatriz Carmo/Luis Miguel Sequeira| BITNET/Internet: bc@fccn.pt | | Labor.
