Rooooooll-up (DM)! From: ben@abby.chem.ucla.edu Date: Thu, 19 Nov 1992 16:49:55 +0000 All- I just got a kinda entertainging r-up in arena 63: Unmodified: 12-16-8-16-6-3-9 Now, what I would like to do, it switch the CN and WL, but as I didn't happen to TC when that was a prize (or any other time), I have to like with 'it' how it stands. I figured you have to make it: 12-16-8-21-11-3-13, but what style? With an 11 WL, I hesitate making it a LU, WS, TP, or PL outright. The best possibility here is prob. PL. Also consider this, low WL = ~zero stat trains, which means I'll never cut it in Primus, so I guess I want to make this a TV-type/lots o' win warriors. That usually rules out the Plunger. Not enough DF to make a really excellent AB or PR, (who,presumably don't need the WL as much...), and besides I already have one of each in that arena. That leaves: PS, ST, SL, or BA. I'm not about to waste a 21 WT on a dumb ole' Basher, so we are down to three... The high CN causes me to think PS, but the 3 SP discourages me, I think a PS should have either a high WL or a high(er) SP, but I'm not sure of this. That leaves ST or SL. I'm inclined to make a SL, because I like them better. But to give the punchline away, I went with a Striker. Wait a minute here? A Three speed ST???!?!?!? Am I crazy? Answer: Probably, when I calculated the Decis rating I got 8 instead of the actual 4 (i.e., I screwed up...) as starting skills from stats alone (using the magical tables of Trump), but the roll-up is on it's way. (I had to send it this morning, EST). I guess I went with the striker for a couple of reasons: One, they conserve endurance very well, better than slashers, so the 11 WL wont hurt as much anyway. 2nd, they generally have good W/L %, especially with 21 WTs, Three, because of (2), they TV more often; and fourth, They have higher decis bonus' than SL (generally), and therefore, the 3 SP will hurt him _less_, (also, they run better with the Decis . tactic, right Wiz) . Last, one disad. of ST's is that they suck in ADM, well, this guy won't do that great in ADM any way (no STAT trains...). Well, I guess that was more than a couple. I hope I stimulate some interesting discussions with this wacky lesson on character design, and maybe I'll learn something. So I guess what I have is a 21 WT experiment. And as I said before, the roll-up is gone as of 7am EST, so feel free to taunt me with what I _should_ have done. At least with a 16 CN, he'll probably live a while...
