GURPS PBM Combat Question From: elk@cblpo.att.com (elk) Date: Wed, 25 Nov 1992 18:33:00 +0000 I'm currently running a campaign with a bunch of my friends that tends to cross often between live play (that is, a bunch of us in a room with dice -- NOT live action) and email play. Usually this works pretty well and is easy to cope with -- live sessions tends towards the more combat oriented stuff and much of the serious RP and character development happens in email. Well, the other day we got into a situation in email that truly required a shift to combat-mode -- complete with careful accounting of position and times and all the attendant bookwork. (We use the advanced combat system.) But, we still wanted to keep the "feel" of email -- you know, flowing dialogs and pretty narrative text and all that good stuff. There's my problem: how do people run a good combat scenario in email? I'm sure it can be done, and I'm sure from all the PBM's I've seen notices for that it has already been done. But, How did you do it? How do you make that work? (One word of warning: the scene in question was PC-PC combat. Dropping the system and going for pretty text just wasn't sufficient because everybody had a stake in THEIR character.) Any thoughts? Thanks! -- +------------------------+ |Ed King | "More customers" means less time to fish. |elk@cblpo.cb.att.com | | | -- Going to Extremes +------------------------+ Referenced By Up
