LEGENDS, Slot Attacks From: robertw@calvin.usc.edu (Robert Watkins) Date: Wed, 02 Dec 1992 12:58:33 +0000 I am trying to construct an army to take a specific objective. Unfortunately, the books seem really vague on how slot attacks are allocated if the opposing slots are not occupied by enemy units. These are my best guesses, can someone help me out? 1 54832716 2 45382716 3 34275187 4 23164758 5 12634758 Back slots are an entirely different ball of wax. I would guess that they duplicate the order of the slot which they simulate. For instance if slot 8 had orders to support missile fire in the right center, it would be resolved with 23164758 (80% damage to the first slot it finds, 20% damage to the second slot). Countercharging is another area of confusion. Is this the only way for a cavalry unit to get full AF and DF vs. walled targets? If slot 8 is set to countercharge, I am assuming that it will engage slot 6's charge. What does slot 8 do after slot 6 is decimated or routed from the battle field? Would it hang back and twiddle its thumbs? Would it slam into slot 1 with severe AF and DF penalties? Would it go engage the charging slot 7 that is still locked in melee with my countercharging slot 7? Ugh.. it is so hard to develop a coherent battle plan with such limited information. Also, what tactics in slots 6, 7, and 8 allow troops and/or characters to use spells, special attacks, missile fire, and melee attacks? For instance, would a cavalry unit mounted on wardrakes and armed with horse bows led by an arcanist in slot 7 with the firestorm battle spell held and set for countercharge cast a fire storm at slot 3, conduct the SA on slot 3, shower missiles on slot 3 with bleed through damage going to slot 4, and then countercharge the opposing slot 7's charge center orders? If the opposing slot 7 is defeated, what do the wardrake mounted soldiers/character do then? My thanks if you can clue me in, Rob Up
