Galaxy Enhancements (formerly world names) From: amead@s.psych.uiuc.edu (Alan Mead) Date: Wed, 02 Dec 1992 03:58:36 +0000 I've played (am playing) under Russell's Galaxy and the GAG Galaxy where the original world names always work. And in that GAG game, yes I can use the very same map I made on turn 1... But If I want to spy on my neighbor, I have to figure out what each world has become (and since I only get the battle report w/o planetary coordinates it's not easy). You can always generate a new map--Russell long ago posted C code to draw ASCII maps with planet names to say nothing of the other utilities floating around. If you have any programming skill at all, I think I can show you how to turn a list of "<name> <x> <y>" records into a PostScript map quite easily. I was amazed at how easy it is... You know what *I* would like to see? An indication for each world of how much unfinished product is currently sitting there. For one thing, this would vastly simplify the currently (IMHO) difficult calculation of a world's maximum production. (Although it is, I grant, much simpler now that COL are manufactured for free in the latest Galaxy). It would also, I think be quite simple to program. Now if I only knew more C... -alan mead Referenced By Up
