BTECH PbEM - More ideas on JumpShips and Facilities From: Jesse.Taylor@launchpad.unc.edu (Jesse Taylor) Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1992 20:46:47 +0000 As the ideas for JumpShips were discussed not too long ago, I think I should add another facility type, after looking at the 'Tech Readouts'. In Tech Readout 2750, it says that 'about 12 [Jump Ships] are produced each year between all the houses of the Inner Sphere'. It also says that that barely compensates for those lost due to KF drive failure. So, we know that there are about 12 Jump Ship production lines in operation, and that between 5 and 10 JumpShips fail each year. So, there is a new facility type, 'JumpShip Factory'. The number of these varies in direct proportion to how big the universe of the PbEM game is to the origional FASA universe. So, if it's the same size, there are 12. Those 12 would be defended by the best-equipped, best-trained troops of the house that holds them. Any damage to the facilities would certainly be punishable by death anywhere in the IS. A little more research tells us about where some of these are. 1 is in that asteroid belt where the pirates hang out (It's in MechWarrior 1st ed somewhere...) And maybe 1 other one in the periphery, leaving 10 to the Houses and ComStar. Comstar probably has one at Terra. Laio has, at most, one. So that leaves two for each of the other houses. Note that capturing a Jump Ship Factory would be, probably, THE most honor-gaining event a MechWarrior could do.
