Portuguese PBM From: bc@lnec.pt (Luis Miguel Sequeira) Date: Tue, 26 Jan 1993 11:24:01 +0000 Hi to all! I've received a letter from Michael Mondy (mdm@UHOU.BITNET) concerning a game I was talking about some while ago here at rec.games.pbm. He asked me if it was a commercial game. Unfortunately, his address is too complex for our poor Portuguese mailers to understand :-). So, I'm unable to email him; however, it seems that he gets rec.games.pbm, so here is the letter for him that I wanted to send: ********************************************************************** Sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately the game I was talking about is a Portuguese one, ie., all turns, reports and rules (and diplomacy) are in Portuguese... It's a commercial game, even if the "group" which started it long, long ago is quite small and doesn't have (yet) a company backing them up. The costs simply cover their expenses and their work, nothing more. The game is called "Idade das Trevas" ("Dark Ages"), and is currently being moderated by Antonio Barao Apartado 549 8605 Lagos Portugal in case you want to ask him anything (sorry, he has no email address... yet). There was an old "dream" of getting the game translated into English and open it to the "outer world" but, until now, this wasn't done yet. From what I gathered from many games I joined and read about, there isn't anything similar in scope and size. It's really a pity that it isn't written in English. He has about 200 players taking 300 or more positions in each of the two games he's moderating... Yours, Luis ********************************************************************** If you're reading this, Michael, do you have any "alternative" address, or the address of some machine which recognizes you?
