I also play a fairly upfront game -- I rename most of my planets
eventually, though the themes may change if I run out of names.

I disagree with enforcing this though -- why remove one way of playing
the game because you don't like.  It is actually more effective to
play a hidden game -- it does make your empire harder to attack and
harder to wipe out.  Especially if you are a small empire being
hounded and chased by a big one, I really like the option of being
able to take protective colouration -- even to the extent of borrowing
someone else's naming system, the other empire is bigger and stronger,
the little guy needs some help.

There are also some advantages to a consistent naming scheme, but
they are mostly political -- allies will know which planets are yours
and will avoid needing to send ships to them, you can avoid random
scouts from friends by telling them that all such-and-such type
worlds are mine, etc.

Also: re the not renaming planets, I have actually found that not-renaming
planets generally stands out as a naming scheme, since most people do
rename, this makes the island of un-renamed worlds look pretty clearly
like one empire.

I'd be happy to play in this variant as well, then again, I'd be happy
to play in any new galaxy game.  (What, you mean its possible to play
in too many galaxy games?  I don't believe it.)
