I have spent about half a year writing a GALAXY-like game called Stellar Imperium. (this will be the fourth PBM game I've designed) for some friends who I met in college, and I thought that I would start up a net game as well. I need some players to help beta test the code-- I'm sure that the game is bug ridden. Players who help me beta test the game will be assured a position when a 'real' full scale game starts up. The game is run on my PC, and turns will be uploaded and downloaded from my PC to the mainframe. To detail the game a bit better, here are the list of commands that turns can have: Commands Actions BT Turn begins; empire name registered as being valid NP Planets are renamed AL Alignments are changed BA Alliences are broken BK Ships are broken out of groups JT Groups join taskforces XT Groups exit taskforces (TR) Cargo is loaded via trade command (LU) Cargo is loaded via Load/Unload command LC Cargo is loaded via Load Cargo command (RT) Cargo is loaded via trading routes CM Cloaking missions are assigned MG,(LU),(TR) Groups enter warpspace UW TRS Warlords use transport powers MT Taskforces enter warpspace DE New designs are created RS Technology research occurs BS Ships built BI Industry built -- Credits are generated -- Population growth occurs -- Ships exit warpspace UW PWR Warlords use combat powers -- Combat occurs DS Death stars destroy planets PR Pirating occurs (RT),(LU) Cargo is unloaded from cargo routes or Load/Unload command UN Cargo is unloaded from the unload cargo command (TR) Cargo is unloaded from trade command TG Groups are traded to other empires UT Ship's technologies are updated CD Design names are changed CE Empire names are changed CP Passwords are changed RD Designs are removed UW INF Warlords use informational powers -- Player's credits are charged for turn, if applicable -- Turn sheets are printed MP Graphic maps are generated The game is essentially GALAXY-like, but with some major changes. Ship designs are essentially the same, except that cloak, sensor, and assault hulls have been added. Cargo does not affect ship speed. Planets have been completley reworked-- they produce credits (which can be loaded as cargo) which can be spent on different items on the same turn. A planet can build different ships, build industry, and research in various technologies on the same turn. If you are interested in receiving some beta-rules for the game, please send me a message. If you are interested in playing what I admit will be a "buggy" game to help me after you receive the rules, mail me to sign up! The first 10 people to send me mail messages will be in the beta test game, which will start in a month or two (still some work to be done on the code...)
