I personally prefer a Priest character for influencing.  That way you
can convert NPCs to your religion and then try to influence them.  A
bard is good at many things, but there are other skills which work
better.

For one, a Bard can listen for legends.  But they're not always sucessful.
And it takes at least two actions per legend.  A Seer with the Dream
spell can get one legend per action as well as do scrys.

A Bard can also gather flora, but so can a Ranger or a Druid.

The only really good thing about a Bard is the Bard Blessing. I'm not
sure how this works, but I think you get a 3% bless per point of Bard.
It's not as much as the Bless spell, but it's free.

Of course this could all be different in Legends II.  According to the
last "News from the Home Office", there will be info about Leg2 in the
next "News".

If you have anything you would like to see changed in Leg1, send MG
a note.  If enough people say the same thing, they'll proably change
it.  For instance, the turn sheets.  Why do I need to run a Kingdom
Turn to move fifteen forces?
