New version of the rulebook has been sent out; from now on, I hope to only put any changes in the Times. We have another batch of players starting this turn; to new players, to submit articles for the Times, just send them to rwallace@vax1.tcd.ie with the word "Times" in the subject line. Also, I would appreciate a copy of any diplomatic messages you send to other players. Remember, new players can still start anytime. It seems the demand for recruits in Carnforth this month exceeded the supply (being only 1/4 of the total peasants there), so many of you will not have got all the recruits you asked for. You can always try again in March. I'm collecting names for regions on the Atlantis map. Suggestions are welcome (original, not copied from books or whatever) - please mail any lists of suggested names to rwallace@vax1.tcd.ie. What do people think of the one turn per week schedule? Already we have scouts out searching for the best sites for development for our mines and training an experienced workforce in Weapons R & D. Since Atlantis economics favour the creation of a tax base ($200! for each _armed_ man generating taxes from those peasants versus $15 for slaving away in the fields) the enterprising knight or evil overlord should see the advantage of buying Roack swords! Our reporter believes Roack Industries to be sincere. It seems that much of the company effort has been focused on developing a mining empire with smithing and mining skills already at the forefront of development. Roack also suggested that as time allows the company intends to diversify, developing map making, armour, and ranged weapons divisions. Asked why he choose such a path Roack responded, "Could be fun to be the merchant of death for an entire world ;-)" This reporter was unsure what the semi colon, dash, and closed barket was intended to communicate. There presence has caused quite a bit of stir among the peasant population, owing mostly to their fantastic looks. But their presence seems to be a calming one, finding converts wherever they go. Maybe it's the allure of both a new outlook on life as well as the physical transformation.... Nobody seems to know who (or what) these beings are searching for, though they plea that, and we quote, "Our intent is for the good of the whole.
