PBM ftp site, weekly post From: frits@cp.tn.tudelft.nl (Frits Kuijlman) Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1993 15:34:48 +0000 Hi all, I'll try to make this announcement weekly. The site is : ftp.cp.tn.tudelft.nl Directory : /pub/pbm For general info see the README file I included below. The information is growing, but please, there is still room for more. All recent information on Legends is stored in the Legends directory. I store all messages that are not big lists etc., and from time to time I edit them a little and put them in the files legends.hints.*. Are there any comments on the format of these files? I tried a little to group articles by subject, but what is your opinion? I could also store the articles as they come in so that these files can be read by news readers like nn. any preferences? I also started a separate directory for Russell Wallace's Atlantis. For the moment I have not much more than the rules, but I will be string the Atlantean(?) Times and all other info players are willing to give away like maps(like Oleg, remember Olympia?). The file 0README : Welcome to the PBM Info ftp region. This directory contains any info I can get on PBM and PBEM games. For the time being it will probably mostly information from rec.games.pbm. Current setup : . General stuff that doesn't need its own directory Atlantis Greg Wallace's Atlantis Confirmed Confirmed information Incoming Upload area Legends Anything I can get on Legends Olympia Information on Rich Skrenta's Olympia I (not II!) Pbem.fanzine Backissues of Greg Lindahl's PBEM Fanzine Unconfirmed Unconfirmed information Ftp.erg.sri.com Mirror of /pub/pbm Galaxy, PBeM mag, other game rules Yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au Mirror of /pub/celemp Celestial Empire Now, before you start downloading everything just read the following. This ftp site is run on a computer that is normally used for other things than answering ftp requests. (Like reading news and playing nethack :-)) So please don't jump in and blindly download everything. Just browse around and take the things that interest you. This especially goes for the Olympia region. Please read the 0README there also. That directory is HUGE! Recent files (the last seven days) are listed in 0FILES.RECENT Mirroring is done every three days so the information from "erg" and "yoyo" should be reasonable up to date. If you are closer to one of those sites try there before you try here. Remember, this site is all the way in Holland. A final note, if anybody has some info he wants to share with the rest of the world (and me!) please mail it to : pbm-info@cp.tn.tudelft.nl. Also I have created an unreadable upload directory called Incoming. You can put files here by typing : put <file> /pub/pbm/Incoming/<file> I will try to copy files from this area to other readable areas as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I had to make this directory unreadable to avoid any legal hassles in case of misuse. For simple announcements it might be better if you post them to rec.games.pbm, but things like game documentation are welcome here. (I still have several megabytes to spare). Enjoy!
