Licensing PBM games From: ulim@coli.uni-sb.de (Ulrich Mayring) Date: Sun, 02 May 1993 10:14:14 +0000 Hi folks, I was just wondering what the prices typically are for licensing a PBM-game. Now, I know that depends on the complexity of the game and various other factors, but a friend of mine, who is a little bit in the know about these things, said that PBM-game licenses sell for approximately 8000 - 12000 German Marks, which would be $6000 - $8000, I guess. Once you paid that sum you are free to host the game as long as you like and as many times you like. Now, he also said, there are other deals, which consist of a small down payment, but then you have to give up a percentage of the earnings. He said something like 20%. Now, I am wondering if any of you people have some experience in these issues and could fill me in on the average costs of licensing a PBM-game, what standard contracts look like and what to watch out for, when licensing a game to or from someone. Thanks, Ulrich. Up
