Legends Ancient Arcana From: anon0293@nyx.cs.du.edu (Name withheld by request) Date: Sat, 01 May 1993 18:44:03 +0000 Someone sent me email saying that they were glad that MG was finally putting limits on new spells in the game via Ancient Arcana (AA). Maybe my last posting wasn't clear. The item that would be created by this spell would give *no* DF adds. It *only* increased the MAR and SAR of the wearer by 2 points. Compare this to the Pwr 2 Armor spell. That doubles the DF and adds to the MAR and SAR of the wearer. Comparison: Pwr 2 Armor Ancient Arcana Level: 4 6 Mana: 20 38 Activation: no limits Must have a certain Mark Must be a Drakken Must be a certain religion Must be a Summoner Must have a certain status Construction: 1 Silver 1 Magic Plate 1 Dwarf Plate or Elf Chain Caster: no restrictions Must have a Mark of _______ Province must have Silverfleaf & Mithral (4 other caster restrictions) Now I ask you all. Does this sound like MG is reducing the power of AA spells? The spells in the rules can not be created using AA. In fact you can't even get close to the level and mana values. Just try to make the equiv. of a Seer's Crystal. I bet that even if you made it exactly as it is in the rules (i.e - for Seer's) it would be a level 4 spell costing around 40-45 mana points. I think that MG should either fix the AA spell generation or eliminate it entirely. John Referenced By Up
