You are easily amused, or you only pick the worst movies.

Look at it from an economics point of view.  Charging $3.50 for
the rules and initial set-up probably reduces the number of people who
will try the game by a factor of ten.  Now, if only a third ofthose people
would continue the game, while 90% of the people who would pay do, this
still gives you about three and a half times as many people paying to
play the game.  *That's* where the money is.  Since you get all sorts
of advantages wrt marginal costs with a larger customer base, their
relative profits would probably increase.
