Yep, I've played HYW, and am currently in the Slow (updates twice
a week) Game, as the French Crown Prince.  It's not really a PBEM, although
you can send and receive a LOT of E-mail if you're active in either the
French or English government or military.  I was in the Beta game that
started last summer and ended in January, and as I mentioned, in the Slow
Game now, so that should give you an idea what I think of it.
	There are a couple flaws in it, though: so far, it's biased against
the French, who haven't won a game yet; and if you're in a normal-speed
game (updates daily), it can be quite expensive to play.
	The anti-French bias is fixable, though I'm not certain it's
currently being worked on.  It helps the French IMMENSELY if Scotland is
active, which to this point it hasn't been in the Slow game.  The other
problem (IMHO) is the over-rating of the English yeomen in the attack.
Don't get me wrong, they were (and should be) WONDERFUL in the defence,
but the doctrine used by the English with their yeomen was a defensive
one.
	The normal-speed and slow games, besides their differing costs
on a monthly basis, also have a different feel to them.  The normal-speed
games are more military-oriented, there's less jawing going on between the
sides, and less diplomatic activity.  Maybe that's because there's less
time to set things up, I don't know.  But there is a definite difference
between the two types of games.
	All I can say is: try it and see!
