Antonio, chief Hidalgo roustabout, all-round nice guy, and suitor of the eldest Hidalgo daughter wept. The newest Atlantis Times had just come in. "Rosalinda is dead!" "Hmm . . . they spelled her name wrong." mused Dominic, the dead girl's father. "y Hidalgo -- and what? Good thing we're not trying to fake being Portuguese; then we could really get caught on screwups like that." Antonio tore open his tunic, savagely beat his chest with his fists, and wailed mournfully. "Aiyeee! This is the darkest day of my life." "I can't believe they somehow enchanted her to spout all that Red Goddess nonsense. She was always a flighty lass, though. Masked overlords? Really! He must have us confused with somebody else. Quite hyperbolic, I must say." "Boss, Boss, have you gone mad? Why are you not mourning your eldest daughter, the finest flower of Hidalgo?" Antonio began to rub his face and clothes with the black Alghero soil. "Aiyiahyeee! She is dead!" "I wonder if Creight Lersing or the Garden Leader was the one that killed her. Good speech, though. 'Classic good looks.' I like that." "Dominic!" Cesar, leader of the Hidalgo armies, ran up to the two men. "The men in the swamp -- they're all dead! Every one! Magic lightning bolts fried them like tiny prawns bubbling in a hot vat of oil! And dangerous scouts have been sighted in Alghero!" "Well, friends" Dominic began. His two men stood, curious. Something was wrong. They had never seen their leader with such a awkward, vacant air about him. "I think I may still be in shock, since nothing seems quite real yet. My grief -- if I let it out I might even go mad. Rather than see another sunrise without my beloved Rosalinda, I might even poke my eyes out." And then he did, and swiftly enough so that his friends could not stop him. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= +---------------------------------------------+ | CAPTAIN KARL WANTS YOU!! ____ | | Are you a good Sailor ====== | | Who doesn't mind working (-)(O) | | Inland?
