AG: Character Profiles From: dsaville@vesta.unm.edu (David G. Saville) Date: Thu, 03 Jun 1993 06:14:17 +0000 I have been asked to post a couple of my character profiles and any general info that guided my choices/development. The following are profiles of a fairly powerful character as well as one who is just getting started. Pazuzeus Gravestone Goblin Male, 36" tall, average weight Alignment is baneful Starting Stats: Str 12 Dex 18 Sta 7 Cun 9 Current Stats/info: Str 22 Dex 30 Sta 19 Cun 19 He has 159 wins in 207 fights for 76.8% with 1 kill and 29 adv kill points His current power level is 1604 He has gone on 16 adventures and has an average score of 65 His skills that he currently uses: Kick trn Initiative Level 3 Bandage Wounds Level 1 Lock Picking L1 Combat Sense L2 Intelligent Parry L3 Flank Maneuver trn Bow Use L2 Diety Magic L2 Magical Fury L1 Cure Party trn Avoid Traps L2 Weapon Skills: Medium Shield Weapon Lord 21 skill points Flail Weapon Lord 28 skill points Dodge/Retreat bonus 25 Damage Point bonus 16 Devoutness Rating ardent 53 destiny points Paz has been active for 39 turns. He started on Ciston turn 1. My initial design goal was to make one of the fastest characters in the game, thus the 18 dex to start. As with most of the nonhuman races, it is good to start at the max for the stats in which the character suffers penalties. So, Paz started with the 12 strenth. Of the stats, stamina is the one that most characters (not elves) can skimp on, but it will become more and more important as the character develops. Paz enjoyed much initial success. He was using the flail and relying on dodgeing for defense. Unfortunately, he became vulnereable to characters with higher staminas who could parry well enough to outlast him. To improve his defense, he now parries with a medium shield in his off hand. The intelligent parry skill allows him to dodge when it is likely that a weapon will blow by the shield. Guill Otin Guill is a Half Troll male, right handed, 96" tall, and heavy weight His current alignment is neutral He has 37 wins in 48 fights for 77.1% with 0 kills and 6 adv kill points His current power level is 364 He has been on 3 adventures with an average score of 54. Starting stats: str 16 dex 14 sta 5 cun 11 Current Stats/skills str 20 dex 16 sta 10 cun 13 Regeneration L2 Combat Sense L1 Weapon Skills great sword Level 3 13 skill points buckler L1 4 skill points He has 1 damage and dodge point bonus He is a dedicated follower of Ulrick As a HT, Guill will never dazzle anyone with his speed or smarts. He must drop his opponents in a few blows. HT's should definitely max out their dex and cun in the beginning as they are very hard to raise. Stamina may be skimped on because a HT's natural regeneration ability will help with both health and energy. Unlike humans or goblins, HT's will not be succesful on stats alone. They just can not compete in that area. In the future, Guill will be improving his regeneration skill and work on spells such as power and speed. The spell speed and the skill initiative should keep him up with the others as far as action points and regeneration will allow him to stay long into a battle. When designing a character, it is important to set long term goals. You need to deside what you want to accomplish and try to stick to the plan. It is very easy to spend your EP's and KP's on what you can afford rather than what would benefit you the most if you save them up. Generally speaking, for the first 5 or so turns, you really can not go wrong raising your stats and work on skills later. There are many, many variables involved in character development and creation. I will be happy to answer any specific questions that you may have in regards to the game. Just let me know.
