DM: ADM Tourney: Crip's Synopsis From: crip@Micor.OCUnix.on.ca (Garth Werner) Date: Fri, 11 Jun 1993 17:29:52 +0000 Ok, I've posted all 11 fights, and you can all make some kind of judgment as to what is required to win the ADM tourney. Here are my thoughts on the matter. 1. Your character can not be too good. If he is good, he gets whished offto Primus. 2. His skill base can't be anything outstanding. Keeping his skill base low, means he will not get whicked into Primus without plenty of stat raises. 3. Design your character so he will lose a lot early, but can then turn it around. Para 3 is the only one that really doesn't apply here. Venemous Porcupine (VP) went to ADM with a 22-8 record and 92 skills. But instead of being placed into ADM at 22-8-0, 74 pts, and allowed to go through life under a normal progression of events, RSI for one turn, forgot to reset the recognition points of a character going to ADM. So VP started on his first turn up in the Grand Champions, with 198 recognition points. As a result, he lost and lost often. However, in ADM, when you lose at the high level of the game, you never really seem to go down in the rankings, so he never got to go down to the level of competition he should have been fighting at. As a result, his W/L % crashed, but it meant he could max out on skills and stay in, not just out of Primus, but stay in Home Guard. FYI, he started the tourney with 3 Masters and 3 Advanced Experts. Not exactly what you expect from an ADM champion. Hell, the Champions Champion is always going to be better than the ADM champion from now on. (FtF tournaments will be the only exception) Oh yeah 4. Get damn lucky matchups. As far as I could tell, I never had to face a semi-experienced attack lunger. Mediocre or undeveloped lungers yet, but nothing nearing AdMaster in attack.
