I'm pretty much the same way when reading fights.  I read line for line, but
I eventually skip comments made during the fight.  AG could get boring if all
it was was a one-on-one battle program.  I haven't become bored with AG yet
over 2 1/2 years because there's so much to do.  Your characters aren't
limited in anything (especially training).  Adventuring is the main thing in
the game.  This involves getting a good party together, coordinating up to
8 characters actions on an adventure, then running into different situations
and different NPCs/monsters.  After your character reaches around 700 power
level in AG, you'll be able to encounter some real tough monsters on
adventures.

Garth (Crip) mentioned that he really doesn't quite get the pleasure out of
pounding on the computer opponent as he would on a human opponent.  I agree
that it would be more interesting to fight other player characters on
adventures, but pounding on human opponents is done in the guild.  There are
the battle rounds, and then there is the optional challenging of other player
characters.  The challenging of other player characters can be to the death
if both players agree upon it.  It has been proposed to Hugh Bayer, the
moderator of AG, that different player character parties could run into each
other outside of the guild, but game balance would be destroyed.  Well, I'm
rambling now, too.... :)
