PBM ftp site irregular posting. New! Mail server! From: frits@cp.tn.tudelft.nl (Frits Kuijlman) Date: Thu, 10 Jun 1993 09:33:54 +0000 Hi all! The PBM ftp site now also has a Squirrel mail server thanks to Leo Breebaart of the Terry Pratchett archives on the same site. For more details see the 0README file I included below. Ftp site : ftp.cp.tn.tudelft.nl Directory : /pub/pbm There are some new rule sets in the Confirmed directory. However, I have still lots of room left for more. HINT! HINT! The 0README file : Welcome to the PBM Info ftp region. This directory contains any info I can get on PBM and PBEM games. For the time being it will probably mostly information from rec.games.pbm. Current setup : . General stuff that doesn't need its own directory Atlantis Russell Wallace's Atlantis Confirmed Confirmed information Incoming Upload area Legends Anything I can get on Legends Olympia Information on Rich Skrenta's Olympia I (not II!) Pbem.fanzine Backissues of Greg Lindahl's PBEM Fanzine Unconfirmed Unconfirmed information Cs.utk.edu Mirror of /pub/bampton Blind Galaxy Ftp.cd.chalmers.se Mirror of /pub/plateu The game Plateau Ftp.erg.sri.com Mirror of /pub/pbm Galaxy, PBeM mag, other game rules Yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au Mirror of /pub/celemp Celestial Empire Now, before you start downloading everything just read the following. This ftp site is run on a computer that is normally used for other things than answering ftp requests. (Like reading news and playing nethack :-)) So please don't jump in and blindly download everything. Just browse around and take the things that interest you. This especially goes for the Olympia region. Please read the 0README there also. That directory is HUGE! Recent files (the last seven days) are listed in 0FILES.RECENT All files are listed in the file INDEX. Mirroring is done every three days so the mirrored directories should be reasonable up to date. If you are closer to one of those sites try there before you try here. Remember, this site is all the way in Holland. If anybody has some info he wants to share with the rest of the world (and me!) please mail it to : pbm-info@cp.tn.tudelft.nl. Also I have created an upload directory called Incoming. You can put files here by typing : put <file> /pub/pbm/Incoming/<file> or : cd /pub/pbm/Incoming put <file> I will try to copy files from this area to other readable areas as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I had to make files in this directory unreadable to avoid any legal hassles in case of misuse. For simple announcements it might be better if you post them to rec.games.pbm, but things like game documentation are welcome here. (I still have several megabytes to spare). For those of you who DON'T have ftp access we now have installed the Squirrel mail server. This mail server can be used through mail or interactively, but all requests will be handled through mail. Please report any errors you find. This is the first time we have installed this kind of software. To get the helpfile either : telnet ftp.cp.tn.tudelft.nl 2001 MAIL <your mail address> HELP (for small help file) or SEND HELP (for big help file) or INDEX (for the index) QUIT or mail to pbm-server@cp.tn.tudelft.nl with the following body : BEGIN HELP or SEND HELP or INDEX END Enjoy!
