New AH Game? History Of the World. From: js138@cus.cam.ac.uk (John Sloan) Date: Tue, 29 Jun 1993 12:42:30 +0000 History of the World is already out commercially over here in the UK; I've had my set for about 2 months. It's now manufactured by Gibson's (who also handle Diplomacy and Civilisation here), and it has decent physical components! I like it for offering an interesting game without being either too complex or too long (the stated length of (n-1) hours for n players is about right, once you've got the idea of the game). The game described in earlier posts differs, however, in one aspect from mine: I'm used to the events being drawn one per turn and played then (apparently the original rule), rather than distributed at the start and then played off according to the player's strategy. This change sounds better, since it reduces the luck involved in which ones you draw when. If anyone can tell me more of how this works, I'd love to know... I won't bother giving too much description, since the earlier posts already cover the basics. If anyone wants more, feel free to email me at the address below (I can't post to Usenet, so a friend is doing this for me). Oh, and for anyone who is likely to buy it, I might point out that it improves as the number of players increases, so you'll probably want at least 5.
