Legends NIC4 (USA) questions From: robbiew@inviso.com (Robbie Westmoreland) Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1993 21:50:33 +0000 I just got my setup in the mail as of about the 24th. I've now got a few questions that I hope the net.community can answer. First of all, when are they going to start processing turns for this game (NIC4)? It's rather frightening that I didn't get my setup until about three weeks after the first announcement made on here. Turns are processed in the order in which they are received, right? So mine are going to go through rather low in the order, right? This does not inspire confidence in my chances of survival, since nearby enemies could find out about me days before I've even processed a turn! Second, several of the characers shown in nearby towns have really odd things listed as their familiars (unused, javelin, almonquava wine). Does that mean I've been favored with a look at their belongings, or are people taking inanimate objects as their familiars? Third, could you send me a copy of the NIC item list, Dean? I've been out of town for over a week, and missed the most recent copy. I'll send you updates on everything that I own that's not in there, and what I find out about when I start scrying and spying. Fourth, one of my characters has a possession slot filled with 0 crowns weighing 0.0 . This character also has one other item. Is the 0 crowns slot there just to make the page balance, or is that some kind of weird computer screw-up? Fifth, what's the difference between a Fortified and Unfortified town? As near as I can guess, it's just the wall size, because the keep, ditch, moat, gatehouse, etc. seem to vary without direct correleation to the designation as fortified. Should I plot my 12 datapoints (is 12 inhabited locations in 81 squares unusually populous?) and let y'all know what it shows? I already know it has nothing to do with materials (stone, improved stone, etc.) Hope someone has some answers... -- Robbie Westmoreland robbiew@inviso.com "And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know..."
