datanet - diplomacy FAQ From: aa158@Freenet.carleton.ca (Les Casey) Date: Thu, 24 Jun 1993 16:56:33 +0000 Q: What is DataNet? A: DataNet is a group of wargame enthusiasts dedicated to keen and skilled play of popular wargames. DataNet is hosted in Durban, South Africa. Q: What games are currently offered? A: Diplomacy and its variants are the current offering. Other games will be offered in the future. Q: Why should I participate in DataNet? A: As most skilled Dippy players are well aware, the worst part of PBEM diplomacy is the problem with NMR's. DataNet has solved this problem by insisting all players submit orders every turn. Those who default from the game without finding a replacement player to take over from them are removed from the player list. No exceptions. Q: Are new and/or inexperienced players welcome. A: Yes! New blood (read victims) are always encouraged. As long as you are a reliable player, there will be room for you. Q: How do I get more information? A: More info about DataNet is available by sending email to: judge@shrike.und.ac.za with the words "get datanet-help" in the body of the message. Information will be returned to you via email. -- Up
