Lets face it in any ongoing strategy game people will get experieced.
And those players who are experienced will have a big advantage over
the poor newbies who are just coming in.

While I don't really think it's fair to penalise players for being to big,
I do think that it should be either impossible or useless to pulverise
any newbie when he first logs in.

When I first logged on to Atlantis I was obliterated before I even managed
to send off a bug free set of orders.  Since I really like the look of
Atlantis I am perservering, but I might easily have been so dejected at my
instant death that I gave up altogether.

So I think that a couple of turns of immunity is not unreasonable, but
I also like the idea of different levels of play, where if I am a trader
I am not vulnerable to attack from the tougher warlords and can safely
wander around and try to make money, train up etc.  My only competition
being from the other trader types.  Should I ever try to take over territory
however my status would be changed.

I don't really see any point to these discussions as to whether or not
it is better for experience to be important in a game or not, all this is
personal preference.  But I do think that a newbie friendly environment
is important for the continuing survival of a game.
