ME-PBM and Rolemaster From: peschko@herring.micro.umn.edu (Edward Peschko) Date: Sun, 18 Jul 1993 17:42:19 +0000 hello. I just downloaded the list of PBM's via ftp and wow, it is a bit overwhelming! I roleplay quite a bit, but find worlds like D&D to be incredibly boring: a hodge-podge of different mythologies thrown in just so sword-jocks can kill as many types of creatures as possible. Hence, I have always been attracted to Tolkien -- and by extension to MERP, and Rolemaster. Tolkien is consistent and subtle, and the Rolemaster games that I have played have reflected that subtlety. So : 1)What is ME PBM like? I REALLY don't want a game that is a simple list of figures, and the number-crunching to go along with it. On the other hand, I want the game to have SOME backbone (ie: I don't want it to be totally free-form, with simply diplomacy.) 2)Are there any people out there that PB(e)M Rolemaster? Or MERP? How well do the games adapt themselves to PBM? And if so, are there any positions open for an interested thief/ranger? Thanks, Ed Up
