BSE: what next? From: walt@genesis.MCS.COM (Walt Pesch) Date: Wed, 04 Aug 1993 14:38:45 +0000 Well, the GM's in their infinite wisdom are screwing with the rules again to "balance" the game. (I am one of the founders of the current crop of Qumans, and we have spent the last few real-time YEARS building production and ship-yards. And now ship-building is being given to all and large production bases ae being penalized.) The problem is that the GM is to close to the game and enforces how he views the exolution of the game upon the model of the game, rather than letting it evolve. In his defence, I've seen other GMs do it to. So... we're not leaving yet, but it is time to start thinking about an alternative. (Definately the mark of a strategy-based PBM'er ;-) What other power position open-ended games are currently out there? I personally like SF based for you can use technology to add a lot of spice to the game mechanics. I tried Cluster when it came out, it got a little too computerized and within ten turns all seemed the same. I also was in with the start of Midgard, musical companies ruined what was a great game. And Rennaissance suffers even worse than BSE from GM intervention. Any ideas? Walt Pesch Referenced By Up
