Legends: Comments From: gairns@ccrs.emr.ca (Celephais) Date: Mon, 26 Jul 1993 15:54:31 +0000 Hi ho. I've been playing Legends for about 18 months in COA and now NIC. I am disillusioned with COA because the players (or many of them, at least) know where everything is. They know the major characters, where the goodies are, how to get them, etc ... I have no problem playing with or against players who know the system well, but to know the game SO intimately that you merely need to show up with the requisite characters ... hmmm. It seems pointless to play a game you KNOW you are going to win, unless the reason you are going to win is superior tactics and a bit of luck. ;) I read the notes about factions too ... I have a HUGE problem with the organized factions and the way they are handled. I think they should add a second tier to the faction, comprised of the 'inner circle'. That way you don't get sleazy tactics like players joining a faction with a throw away character and discovering who is in the faction. It should be more hierachical and more tricky, IMHO. I *DO* like way MG has tried to discourage players from playing in the same NIC module after their position is dropped. Personally, I would stay away from the organized factions, until such time as they come to you and ask you to join (because of some feat or series of feats you've accomplished - call me snobby, but I wouldn't feel too great about carrying a character that hasn't proven themselves). I suppose the higher the NPC activity level, the more variety/danger/suspense there is, with respect to who you can and can't trust. ;) Jamie -- MINE MINE MINE ... these opinions, that is. Up
