Legends: some answers From: lache@convex.rz.uni-duesseldorf.de (Stefan Lache) Date: Tue, 24 Aug 1993 09:29:58 +0000 You ask, I try to answer... Ross Inglis asked: > When resurrecting a main character is it the character's "base" or " > effective"prestige that affects the spell's mana cost? > I have an ally who needs his main character resurrected (a fatal accident > witha Fire Drake in NIC). I need to decide whether I can afford the mana > to buildanother holy symbol that will get my Priest to level 20 but only > raise prestige2 or hope I can succeed in 3 out of 5 practice attempts over > the next 3 turns.Ross As far as I know it is the base prestige, but at least in Austria it is also sufficient to spend 3MP (or 5? I don't have the manual with me at the moment) + the magic resistance of the character to be resurrected, and that should be less than the other figure. Robbie Westmoreland asked: > A couple of questions: > The "Train Soldier Skill" order, T16 in the U.S., doesn't mention anything > about the level of the troops being trained. The information in the manual is misleading. > 2. the cost of training be 65 per troop or 115 per troop? 65 GC. > 3. the troops lose their 5 levels under any circumstances in > which they also gained the Knight training? No chance. They will we lvl 5 Knights. > The description in the book seems to imply (1) yes, (2) no, (3) no. > I attacked an Elven village in NIC4 with an unarmed scout. The place had a Moat of level 1. Anyone have a > thought? Should I count on that low level of DF when I attack the place > (thus making those two slots easy meat except that they cause heaps of > damage in the Charge round). You can count on it. I guess the mounted troops are somewhere in the rear slots (6,7,8) and had an attack/charge order. In this case they lose the benefit of the fortifications (it is somewhere in the manual), while they get it in the case of an order such as Tactical Reserve. > A friend has a lair in which the nasty carries a poison (II) weapon. > What special effect (aside from the AF bonus) does poison have on troops? > Does poison automatically give any characters damaged by it a Poisoned > condition? Is the antidote the only way to cure poison? I do not know about the chances of characters being poisoned when fighting against monsters using a poisoned weapon, but when they are protected by enough soldiers there should be no problems. > Anyone want to loan me 3200 crowns so I can buy the Power 1 Dwarven Plate > from the marketplace near me? :) > Thanks in advance, and anyone interested in exchanging information on NIC4 > let me know. > -- > Robbie Westmoreland robbiew@inviso.com Michael Minnotte asked: > Which military orders can be used against a nomad camp? My guess is the I have heard (information not yet confirmed by own experience) that _nomads_ _can_ conquer nomad camps. > attack legion command and all of the raid commands, but would like to be > sure. Is there any command you can use against a camp that will > allow you to: > a) Use more than 30 soldiers (is this restriction on raid orders > implemented?) > b) Kill the defending soldiers (or a number of them) and > c) Capture some possesions and/or slaves for your trouble? > Thanks, > Mike Minnotte In case you are not a nomad the best idea should be to use Raid Legion (or whatever this command is called in English). You will battle them with all your soldiers and can conquer their possessions and their population (not as slaves, you get all of their pop minus 10 or 20%). At least that is what happens when you use the command on a legion; I have never attacked nomads. Good luck to all of you! Stefan (Stefan Lache, lache@convex.rz.uni-duesseldorf.de) Up
