This will not make much of a difference, though. Here are a couple of things that will make a difference: 1) You could ignore attacks. This is not a good idea if you do not wear heavy armor. 2) Make your character faster. It sounds like you are fighting people who have more action points than you. You spend most of your time reacting to them because they have the first action in about every round. Things you can do to speed your guy up: a) Increase dex and cunning b) Get initiative or speed (speed requires a really good stamina) c) Fight with no encumberance. d) Do not move from range to range.
